HHA is looking for experienced Retail Project Managers / Architects with 6-10 years of professional architectural experience (5 years B. Arch or M. Arch) in the areas of Health, Wellness, clothing and / or beauty both locally and nationally. brands.

Job description:

The role will require direct customer management and the ability to lead a 2-4 person production team throughout the execution and deployment of national service-based retailers. Architectural and interior design services will cover all phases of design, drafting, approval and construction.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • Pre-design – Assist the client in the evaluation and selection of potential spaces. Ability to review work letter and lease terms and understand the impact on space planning, budgets, design, design work from vendors and sub-consultants.
  • Design Phases – Oversee the development and / or implementation of the design based on a scope of work as contractually defined. Review layout for code compliance, coordinate with sub-consultants and suppliers, oversee production of internal drawings.
  • Approval Phases – Prepare drawings for the review / approval of the building owner and / or management as well as the approval / permits of the plans from the local building department.
  • Tenders and negotiations – Preparation of tender documents and administration of the tendering process. Assist the client in the selection of a general contractor.
  • Construction phase – Administer the construction contract and support the general contractor during construction.

Applicants must demonstrate experience in one of the following types of projects:

  • Retail – Apparel, beauty, health and wellness for local or national brands in urban / storefront or indoor mall locations.
  • Retail – Design based on concepts and / or prototypes
  • Retail – Preparation of design documents to facilitate the implementation of the design concept in several national sites.

Applicants must demonstrate the following personal skills:

  • Ability to manage internal and external deadlines through personal time management and effective team delegation.
  • Experience in supervising and managing the workflow of a small project team.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a dynamic team in a dynamic and rigorous environment.
  • Self-motivated, well organized and able to execute projects with little supervision
  • Define and solve complex problems, perform tasks with precision with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast turnaround environment
  • Commitment to guiding and mentoring young team members early in their careers

Applicants must demonstrate knowledge in the following areas:

  • Experience in organizing and assembling construction documents with proven technical detail skills.
  • Experience navigating third party approvals (building management, local zoning, local building department).
  • Experience in identifying required consultants and soliciting proposals on behalf of clients.
  • Knowledge of national, state, local and federal accessibility codes.
  • Knowledge of national, state and local energy conservation codes.
  • Knowledge of New York City zoning text, building codes and the DOB permit application process.

Applicants must demonstrate knowledge in the following technical skills:

  • Hand drawing and sketching abilities to quickly express creative ideas or technical details
  • Experience in supervising drawing production teams (AutoCAD) with their own experience and knowledge of the software.
  • Experience in supervising visualization production teams (Google Sketch-up, V-Ray).
  • Knowledge of presentation and communication software tools: PowerPoint, In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of organizational software tools: Microsoft Project, Excel.

The candidate must be local in the New York area or able to travel within a relatively short period of time. (no visa or international requests please)
